MELISSA CAPOZZI, LCSW
I am a licensed clinical social worker and practicing psychoanalyst. My style of therapy is warm and collaborative and I invite clients to engage in a creative process of self discovery. I offer a supportive environment where you can explore, play, and ultimately, find greater understanding and acceptance of yourself.
My therapeutic approach revolves around embracing the complexities within ourselves, even the messier areas we tend to avoid. By exploring these deeper layers of the psyche, we will work on helping you get to know yourself better. We will look at your history, relational dynamics, and internal conflicts. My goal is to help connect you more deeply with your mind, emotions, and experience.
I pay special attention to the unconscious, especially patterns that feel ingrained yet entirely unfamiliar to your presenting self. We will consider all aspects of your being, as well as the importance of the mind-body connection in regulating your emotions. I aim to bring you closer to your authentic self, promoting clarity and freedom to make conscious choices and disrupt old patterns.
Prior to opening my private practice I worked as a social worker in middle school, high school and university settings. I received advanced training at The Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
